ARTIST: Alan Burns

Title: '"Embeddedment Series' (2006)
Medium: Resin, Fabric, Plastic, Found Objects
Quantity Available: 15
Location: Crawdaddy

About the work:
The work which I am including in the "vending machine project" will be used to reflect the individual repressed by the need to conform in a global culture of secrecies and oppression.
This will be portrait in a visually similar series of resin pieces which will incorporate trapped objects / text / imagery enclosed inside a 9 x 9 x 3 cm solid box shape of clear, coloured, or translucent resin which may, depending on the nature of the objects, elope through the resin breaking the formal cubed shape of the piece and placing a textured pattern on the resin.
The objects, text, imagery that will be embedded in the resin will include zips, bottles caps, coloured keys and broken glass bottles. These colourful 3D forms will emphasise the transient nature of prioritized information."
Some of the works will have two indented holes on the back of the work to be placed on two tacks for hanging on a wall. The others will be left as free standing objects themselves.
Through this work I hope to draw attention to the private information people repress and withhold from society for fear of rejection.
